Learn the Inside and Outside of Roulette Rules

In Roulette, there are usually up to 8 players playing against the house dealer. The roulette wheel has 38 slots with numbers 1 – 36 and 2 zeros. Some wheels have 37 slots and only one zero.

Each player will buy different colored chips to ensure they don’t get mixed up. At the end of the game, you will exchange the color chips for cash chips if you win.

To start playing, place your bet or bets on any of the numbers including zero. The dealer will spin the wheel and release the ball and before the ball drops into a slot, the dealer will say no more bets. This mean you can’t place or change any bets. The dealer will place a dolly on the winning number and will clear the losing bets from the table. After this, you can place new bets while the winners are being paid. Winners are bets that are on or around the winning number.

There is a rule called The’En Prison’ rule. With this rule, some casinos will allow the player to either take half their bet back or leave it on the table for another spin.

There is another rule called The ‘La Partage’ rule. This is similar but in this case, the player will lose half of the bet.

I Don’t Know if it Rocks, But I Do Know Roulette Rules

There are two sections to the game of roulette: the roulette wheel and the roulette table. The roulette table is where the players place their bets. The roulette wheel is then spun by the croupier and a small ball bearing rolls around its rim, then bounces into one of the 38 numbered spaces (36 plus 0 and 00).

The roulette table is divided into 38 numbered spaces, 0 and 00, both colored green at the top of the table; 1-36; 3 horizontal rows, 12 columns called “streets”, 3 zones: 1-12, 13-24 and 25-36. There are black and red numbers 18 red and 18 black but not in a discernible pattern, and you can bet on either black or red on the appropriate space.

Place roulette bets on the table as follows:

Bet on a single number: Payoff is 36 to 1. Put your chip in the middle of the number square.

Bet on two numbers : Bet on two numbers by putting your chip on the line that divides the two numbers. Payoff is 17 to 1.

Bet on three numbers in a column (”the street): Payoff is 10 to 1. Put your chip directly at the top of the column. The croupier will tell you exactly where to put it.

Bet on black or red: Payoff is 2 to 1. If you are playing at a $5.00 minimum table, usually you will have to put at least 5 chips on a black or red, considered on the “edge” of the table. Same for betting on the zones 1-12, 13-24, and 25-36. You will need to put a total of 5 chips on numbers per spin of the wheel.

You can bet one chip at a time on the “streets” and the “rows”.

Though the rules of Roulette are fairly easy to learn but it is pretty important to gain some necessary knowledge before getting into the casino to play the game and it matters to any game. Roulette has both the rules and etiquette that has to be followed.

Some of the Basic Rules of Roulette:

  • While in the Roulette, you do not compete with any other players. This game can hold upto 8 players and each of the players will play with the dealers only.
  • Players playing the game will buy in and receive the chips of some color and it will be different from each player.
  • If you win a spin in the game, then cash your color chip for a cash chip which is of certain value.
  • If you place one the money bet and then the balls will land on zero. Here you can take back the bet or else leave it for the other spin. If you go with the last option, then you put the money in prison and this rule is known as “En Prison.”

Another rule called “La Partage” and this is similar to “En Prison” and here you will lose half of your bet and you will not be able to leave a remainder in the prison or you will be out of the other spin.
